The French National Institute for Demographic Studies (INED)

The French National Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) is a public research body that specializes in population studies. It works closely with academia and research institutions at national and international levels. INED’s remit includes studying the populations of France and other countries, disseminating the resulting findings as widely as possible, and providing training in research through research. 

The French National Institute for Health and Medical Research 

The French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale, INSERM) is the only public research body in France to be dedicated entirely to human health. It ensures the strategic, scientific and operational coordination of biomedical research.

French National Blood Service (EFS)

The primary mission of the French National Blood Service (EFS) is to ensure national self-sufficiency in blood products, applying an ethical framework to blood donation. In addition to this core activity, EFS develops treatments and undertakes research with the aim of promoting scientific and medical advances of benefit to patients.

Public Health France

Public Health France was created in 2016 by the merger of several health agencies (InVS, Inpes, Eprus and GIP Adalis), taking over all their missions. With considerable expertise in epidemiology and prevention, as well as in working with the general public, the agency engages in a broad range of activities, from knowledge management to actual operations, with the overarching mission of effectively protecting people’s health.

The National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE)

The National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) is a department of France’s Economy and Finance Ministry. Its remit is to collect, produce, analyse and disseminate information about French society and the economy across the whole of the country.

The French National Family Allowance Fund 

The French National Family Allowance Fund (Caisse nationale d’allocations familiales, CNAF) funds all the country’s family benefit schemes. It formulates strategy for the Family branch of the French social security system and defines social action policies, which it manages via a national network of regional family allowance funds.

The Department for Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES)

The Department for Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES), an entity of France’s Ministry of Solidarity and Health, is part of the government statistical service, and produces information and analyses of populations and public health and social policies. This information is supplied to government decisionmakers, citizens, and economic and social stakeholders.

The Health Department (DGS)

The Health Department (DGS), an entity of France’s Ministry of Solidarity and Health, draws up public health policy and also helps to implement it. Its actions are guided by four major objectives: maintaining and improving the health of the country’s citizens, protecting people from public health threats, guaranteeing equal access to safe healthcare of a high standard, and coordinating the actions of its partners.

The Risk Prevention Department (DGPR)

The Risk Prevention Department (DGPR) operates within France’s Ministry of the Ecological and Inclusive Transition to identify and quantify all risks, be they chronic, accidental, technological or natural, in order to implement appropriate prevention policies.

The Department for Research, Planning and Statistics (DEPS)

The Department for Research, Planning and Statistics (DEPS) is the government statistical service for the Ministry of Culture.
